Breastfeeding is Good for Business

Home

Mothers CAN combine work and breastfeeding with a good support system!  The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding for at least one year, and in order for a mother to reach this goal, she MUST be supported at work.  Studies have repeatedly shown that employers play a vital role in facilitating a breastfeeding mothers' return to work.  Very often a woman's decision to breastfeed or formula feed is based on how she perceives her employer's and co-worker's acceptance of pumping at work.  This healthy choice a parent makes translates into cost savings for the parent AND the company through lowered absenteeism and decreased health care costs.  Research shows that adding a  Corporate Lactation Program makes a positive impact on morale, decreases absenteeism, decreases turnover, and saves the company money.  It just makes good business sense for the long run!
